For Certified Bikram Yoga Teachers, Serious Practitioners & Long-Time Students
If you know there's more to Standing-Head-to-Knee and Triangle Pose than simply trying harderâŚ.
Whatâs Missing Isnât More Effort.
Trying harder rarely moves you forward.
Understanding what to focus on does.
You may know the feeling.
Youâve practiced Standing-Head-to-Knee or Triangle again and again. You know the Dialogue. You know where you struggle. You keep working at it, but there are still moments when you wonder:
âWhat am I missing?â
Maybe the next step isnât more effort.
Maybe thereâs one specific action in the Posture you havenât recognized yet â something to focus on at one particular moment that changes what happens next.
Thatâs what Jim Kallett teaches.
The Focus Points and Sequence of Action Jim shares are rooted in more than 30 years of studying directly with Bikram and serving as Senior Faculty at over 50 Official Bikram Yoga Teacher Trainings.
Jim learned firsthand what it meant to be given one Focus Point in his own Practice.
âIn a class Bikram was teaching, during the Balancing Stick Pose Dialogue he inserted my name: âCome down, leg up, come down, leg up, Jim, come down more, leg up, leg up, stretch, stretch, stretch, and come up.â
I wasn't coming down enough. Why? Because I couldnât yet. He wasn't correcting me. He was giving me the one thing I needed to focus on.
For eight years I heard those words in my head every time I did that Posture. Then one day I was coming down.
It wasnât because I suddenly became stronger. It took that long for my body to understand what I was finally focusing on.â
Years later, Jim used that same process with long-time Bikram Yoga practitioner Gregory Frank.
Seven Years. Hundreds of Classes. One Focus Point.
Gregory practiced for seven years â hundreds of Bikram Yoga classes.
Yet he never held the final position of Standing-Head-to-Knee for even one second.
During an Individual Posture Session, Jim gave Gregory one Focus Point.
It was just for Gregory and exactly what he needed.
He held the final position for the first time in seven years.
No more guessing.
One Action.
One Focus Point.
A more precise Practice.
What Jim teaches can help you recognize what your own Practice needs next.
Understanding Two Challenging Postures lets you explore that process in Standing-Head-to-Knee and Triangle Pose.
